The Brown Horse Inn - The Winster Valley Brewery

The Winster Valley Brewery opened in January 2010 with great success. Brewer Gerard Lyon firstly launched ‘OLD SCHOOL, a full tasting pale ale with floral aromas on the finish. This 3.9 ABV ale quickly became a favourite with both locals and tourists alike.
Due to popular demand, Gerard, quickly started work on a second ale, ‘BEST BITTER’, which reached the customers lips in March 2010. This 3.7 ABV smooth full-bodied bitter, made from English hops, has a roasted malt flavour with a hint of caramel and like ‘OLD SCHOOL’ has become a favourite with the punters.
The success of both ‘OLD SCHOOL’ and ‘BEST BITTER’ has resulted in the pair of the Winster Valley Breweries ales becoming present at a number of restaurants and pubs within The Lake District.

Brewer Gerard Lyon says, “I am delighted with the success of both ‘OLD SCHOOL’ and ‘BEST BITTER’. Initially we set out to brew only the one ale (OLD SCHOOL), but due to its popularity, we thought we would try another. I am also pleased to announce plans to launch both a lager and a fruit beer in the future”.
